How to take your soil sample in 5 easy steps
1.Order your tests here
2.Choose Sampling Areas
Divide your garden into sections based on how you use them (e.g., vegetable beds, flower beds, lawn). If you want results for all areas, you will need to do separate tests for each area.
3.Collect Soil Samples
Using a clean trowel or soil probe, dig down 6–8 inches (or 3–4 inches for lawns) and take a small amount of soil. Repeat this in 5–10 random spots using the W method in the diagram shown within each section to get a representative sample.
4.Remove debris and mix
Remove stones, roots, and any organic debris. Mix the samples together in a clean container.
5.Package and Label
Place approximately 80 grams of the mixed soil into the bag provided. Label it with the sample area name (e.g., “Vegetable Bed”). Drop your prepaid sampling bag to the local post office.
